The Slave River Delta Partnership

The Slave River and Delta Partnership (SRDP) is a collaboration of agencies and organizations working and living in the Slave River and Delta basin including Smith’s Landing First Nation, NWT Métis Nation, Fort Resolution Métis, Deninu K’ue First Nation, Salt River First Nation, GNWT – Environment and Natural Resources, Land and Water Division, GNWT – Environment and Natural Resources – South Slave Region, Aboriginal Affairs & Northern Development Canada, Water Resources, Environment Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Yellowknife, Wood Buffalo National Park, Aurora College and the Aurora Research Institute. A number of other organizations and researchers join the group from time-to-time to support specific projects.

The SRDP was created in 2010 by ENR Lands and Water Division, as part of the NWT Water Stewardship Strategy  to facilitate community-based monitoring in the Slave River and Delta in response to community concerns about the health of the ecosystem. Last year the SRDP conducted a review of research and monitoring programs in the basin to produce a ‘State of Knowledge Report’ and prioritized next steps for monitoring and research in a ‘Vulnerability Assessment’.

Aurora Research Institute is supporting the SRDP through youth outreach to support the goals of the partnership.
