Research Ethics Committee (Student Member) – Call for Expressions of Interest

Aurora College is seeking a student member to serve on its Research Ethics Committee. The incumbent should be an Aurora College student enrolled in a post-secondary program with an interest in research methods. The successful candidate will be named to the committee for a one-year term. Previous experience on committees is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.

The Aurora College REC is established and empowered under the authority of Aurora College. The REC reviews research proposals from researchers conducting their research in the NWT to ensure that the research adheres to the highest ethical standard set out by the Tri-Council Policy Statement on Ethical Conduct of Research Involving Humans (TCPS).

The Research Ethics Committee meets monthly, for two-hour meetings via MS Teams or teleconference to review research applications, and has one face-to-face meeting/training session annually. Committee members also participate in revision reviews, delegated reviews, and interim meetings throughout the year, as needed. Members are required to complete an online training tutorial (the TCPS2 Core tutorial) within three months of their appointment.
