Tony Devlin is a communications and research professional with more than 25 years of experience supporting projects across Northern Canada. Based in Inuvik, he specializes in research development, grant writing, knowledge mobilization, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications, helping build strong partnerships between researchers, Indigenous governments, communities, industry, and government.

Throughout his career, Tony has supported multidisciplinary initiatives by coordinating partnerships, developing funding proposals, communicating outcomes, and translating complex technical information into clear, accessible language. His work has focused on ensuring research is collaborative, community-informed, accessible and delivers meaningful benefits for northern residents.

Tony is originally from Ottawa, Ontario and grew up the son of a foreign service officer – living in Berlin, Moscow, Prague and Bridgetown.  After stints producing documentary television out of Toronto, Dubai and Puerto Rico, he headed north, first to Taloyoak, Nunavut and then to Inuvik in 2007, joined by his wife Beverly and their (now) four children.
At ARI, Tony is committed to strengthening research capacity, fostering collaboration, and helping advance research that supports healthy, resilient, and sustainable northern communities.

We are grateful to the many Indigenous peoples of the NWT for allowing us the opportunity to learn, work and live on their lands. We are also deeply grateful for the generous sharing of Indigenous Knowledge, wisdom and ways of knowing, being, doing and believing with our students and employees.
