Aurora College is calling for expressions of interest from Northwest Territories residents to join its Research Ethics Committee (REC) as community members. This vital role, not open to current students or employees, involves reviewing research proposals to ensure adherence to ethical standards. With monthly meetings and annual training, selected members will contribute to ethical research practices over a three-year term. An honorarium is provided. Interested? Apply by March 1, 2024.

The college experienced a significant 83.5% growth in research income, ranking 7th in this area, and stands 28th for research dollars per researcher. It's recognized in the top 15 for research partnerships and industry income. Aurora College excels in various research fields, including environmental studies, health, Traditional Knowledge, and STEM, with notable projects in climate change and renewable energy.

Aurora College celebrated Northern Nursing Research Day on November 29 2023, showcasing the academic achievements of its Health and Human Services students and faculty in Yellowknife. Sponsored by Hotıì ts'eeda, the event featured 21 research posters, including 18 literature reviews by fourth-year BSN students and faculty-led projects. The research, vital for northern healthcare, emphasized nursing scholarship and practical applications in a northern context.

Aurora College is celebrating student research with two events in Yellowknife. On Nov 29, healthcare students will present their projects at Northern Nursing Research Day on the third floor of the Yellowknife North Slave Campus. Then, on Dec 1, the Northern Student Research Gathering at the Yellowknife Ski Club will unite student researchers and mentors. Both events are open to the media and the public.
