Dr. Pertice Moffitt’s research featured in the International Journal of Circumpolar Health

The 17th International Congress on Circumpolar Health (ICCH17) met in Copenhagen, Denmark in August 2018. The publication, Ingemann, C., Kvernmo, S., Møller, H., Moffitt, P. M., Tagalik, S., Kuhn, R. L., … & Larsen, C. V. (2019). Symposium on “parental education” at the ICCH17. International Journal of Circumpolar Health, 78(1), 1604062 provides an overview of research programs presented and discussed at ICCH17 on parental education and maternal health services. Dr. Moffitt and her colleagues conducted a study on integrating traditional knowledge from mother and grandmothers on breastfeeding.

The Compendium of Research in the NWT is an annual publication that offers summaries of research licences/permits that were issued in the Northwest Territories. The information contained in this book is a product of collaboration between the Aurora Research Institute, the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The Compendium series began in 1984.

Welcoming the 'Sacred Spirit' (child): Connecting Indigenous and Western 'ways of knowing' to inform future policy partnerships to optimize maternal child health service delivery initiatives in remove Canadian regions looks to identify and describe existing maternal supports for Indigenous women in Canada. The project is led by Dr. Kellie Thiessen from the University of Manitoba and Elder Katherine Whitecloud.

ARI’s Garfield Giff Celebrated by AGU

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) celebrated 100 years by awarding centennial grants to projects that support engagement activities. ARI's Garfield Giff was awarded a grant to support his work 'Growing Climate Change Awareness Amongst Students.' Garfield and his team inform Northern youth about the effects of climate-driven changes on their environment using fun-filled, entertaining, interactive and informative methods.
