Aurora Research Institute offers science programming for schools (all grades), day camps, and community events.
For younger audiences we can offer a variety of engaging learning activities and games suited to your needs – some favourites include:
- The Char Lifecycle (relay)
- Moose and Wolf Game (predator prey game)
- Oh Deer (habitat game)
- Traditional Water Use (relay)
- Trash audit
- Whooping Crane Migration Game
We love to take classes out on environmental monitoring field trips. Classes have accompanied staff and researchers to observe and monitor benthic macroinvertebrates, fisheries, water quality and quantity, ice surveys, habitat assessments. Field trips can be tailored to suit your needs. These are great for all ages, and directly support the NWT’s Experiential Science Curriculum.
We can also host or support schools interested in holding their own Science Olympics, provide judges for Science Fairs and organize science-themed Career Fairs.
If you are looking for an expert on a specific topic, give us a shout. We have access to researchers working in your communities and many are looking for opportunities to share their passion for science.
